How to Identify Learning Gaps Early

Catching learning gaps early can make a huge difference in reading, writing, and developing foundational skills that lead to academic success later on.

My online classes are structured, flexible, and personalized, giving students the support they need to thrive!

How to support your student:

  • Request a formal evaluation: Submit a written request for a Full Individual and Initial Evaluation (FIIE) at school. This report names your student’s areas of growth and strengths (TEA).
  • Know your options: If you disagree with the school’s findings, request an Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE) by an outside specialist (TEA).
  • Seek programs, such as mine, that offer direct phonics instruction: This includes structured lessons with modeling, guided practice, and immediate feedback to help students develop reading and writing skills (Hughes et al., 2017).
  • Request data-based individualization (DBI) – Progress monitoring, diagnostic assessments, and error analysis will help identify gaps in letter sound understanding, reading comprehension, sentence writing, and more (IRIS Center, 2025b)!
  • Choose interactive, gamified classes: Short, engaging sessions that build character, confidence, and academic growth.
