We’re conveniently located at the intersection of Cortaro and Thornydale right next to the Basha’s, and we serve everywhere from Flowing Wells to Red Rock and Oracle! Our sister location, the Mathnasium of Catalina Foothills, serves everywhere south and east of the Catalina Foothills region.
Why I started the Business
The Mathnasium of Marana opened its doors in January 2022 in order to help address the gaps in Tucson students’ mathematical knowledge. We, as well as our sister centers have noticed that on average students in Phoenix and Tucson are about two years behind where they need to be. Not only is our goal to help students bridge the gaps in their learning but also to help them build confidence in their math skills so that they can maintain that prowess into the future.
Since June 2022 the Mathnasium of Marana has been run by Andrew Cervantes, a graduate of the University of Arizona with a degree in mechanical engineering. Before he took the helm at Marana Andrew worked at seven different Mathnasiums in the Phoenix Metropolitan Area, assisting students from second grade all the way to twelfth! Starting as an instructor in October 2019, Andrew became the Center Director of the Online Program in January 2021, then the Assistant Center Director of Paradise Valley in January 2022. He worked with countless instructors and center directors, gradually learning everything one needed to know in order to be an effective instructor and later, center director.
Andrew cares greatly about students’ progress and is always excited to see them improve. As someone who had his share of struggles in math classes he understands the anxiety students feel about being behind and asking for help. His determination to help students reach their goals, as well as his great sense of humor make coming to the Mathnasium of Marana an enjoyable experience!
