Services

I am a licensed and certified speech language pathologist experienced in supporting expressive and receptive language skills, articulation and phonology development, disfluency (stuttering), social language and reading and literacy.

I also have a BA in Spanish literature, lived abroad in Spain for over a year prior to the conclusion of my college studies, and recently have served as the bilingual speech-language pathologist in two local districts. These experiences have inspired me to pilot some small group Spanish classes for primary level students. I am also available for Spanish tutoring at the elementary and secondary level.

I am currently providing mobile, in-home services in the Mesa, Apache Junction, and North Gilbert areas and have some openings for students between 9am-3:30 pm Monday-Thursdays.

Why I started the Business

I love teaching language and communication skills through play and literature. Children learn vocabulary and language more easily when they have background knowledge, a memory or a tactile experiences to provide supporting context. Working in the public schools I had the amazing opportunity to develop and practice these skills and to support a variety of learners at a variety of levels. I am also a mom to three beautiful children, one of whom exhibits some developmental delays and requires extra time and attention. In order to be the best mom and best speech-language pathologist I could, I decided to make the change from working in the public schools full-time, to providing home services part time. My children and I have been blessed to utilize the ESA program under both the special needs and universal umbrellas, and my experiences as an SLP, and as a parent to a child with special needs gives me a unique perspective when supporting families and their educational and communication needs.

About Me

I received my B.A. in Spanish Literature from the University of Arizona in December of 2004.

I lived in Spain for 18 months in 2003-2004.

I received my M.S. in Communication Disorders from Arizona State University in May 2010 and completed special coursework specific to diagnosis and treatment in clients of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

Since graduating from ASU I have been working as a contract SLP in the public schools (Mesa, and Scottsdale) mostly at the elementary and preschool levels. Most recently I was privileged to work as lead bilingual evaluator in Mesa Public schools, differentiating language difference (i.e. typical English language acquisition) from disordered language in our English language learner population.

While working in the schools has been rewarding and challenging, the ESA expansion program precipitated a change in how I am able to reach and support other families with their educational and communication needs as well as allowing me the flexibility I need as a mom of young children.
