August 21st – Nature Journaling – Sonoran Sounds – N. Phoenix – Cost $10/Child – 10 am-11 am Join us as we explore the sounds of the Sonoran Desert and learn how to journal the sounds we hear. This class is for children ages 7-14 yrs old (younger siblings are welcome to tag along and older siblings are more than welcome to participate too). This class will be about 1 hr long. ECO Nature Journal Club will meet once a month and is for families with children of all ages. Adults are encouraged to participate in the journaling activities as well. Each month we will do a hands on nature journaling/observation activity. These activities will build foundational journaling skills and get participants excited to keep journaling. Activities will also introduce techniques that participants can include in their journaling. In addition participants will also learn some basic drawing skills (each month we will show you how to draw a plant, animal, landscape, etc). We will also learn a few fun facts! This club is a fun, family-friendly way to develop a closer connection with nature, build a community and a support system around sketching outdoors, introduce people to natural areas, inspire sharing of ideas and resources, and promote stewardship. This club will be a relaxed setting where participates will be encouraged to explore the natural world as they learn to make observations, ask questions and make connections. All ages are welcome. *Drawing is not required…if you or your child prefers to write and/or take photos that is also an option for keeping a nature journal. We hope to have a couple Polaroid cameras available for children with special needs to utilize that may have issues with drawing or writing.
