Survival Skills Class Every Other Tuesday 9 Weeks

Ages/Grades: ECO Survival Skills/Bushcraft is for children in 3rd-7th grade (approximate ages 8-13 yrs old). Survival Skills/Bushcraft offers a combination of hands-on practical application and some lecture as we learn the 7 priorities of survival. Older siblings are welcome to attend this class too but we will be running one for just older children. This program is not drop off. Tuition: There are only 12 openings for this program! 9-part series $140/child. Cost includes a urvival kit that includes flint/steel, a compass, a pocket knife, signaling devices, bandana, first aid supplies, and more. Schedule: Every other Tuesday 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm for 9 weeks. Class dates 8/20, 9/3, 9/17, 10/1, 10/15, 12/3, 12/17, 1/14, 1/28 Topics: Join us for a 9-part series where students learn about the 7 priorities to desert/wilderness survival. This survival skills class will cover the seven priorities of survival: Positive Mental Attitude, Wilderness First Aid, Shelter options, Fire, Signaling (including lost behavior), Water, and Food. Here is some of the hands-on instruction we will be doing: creating a shelter (various kinds), wilderness first aid (caring for snake bite, bee stings, knife cuts, burns, etc), signaling (whistle and mirror), knot tieing, basic compass instruction/orienteering, fire (practice w/ a ferrocerium rod) and more. We will also discuss pre-preparation and what you should keep in your hiking bags at all times to ensure you are prepared when exploring the wilderness. Students will receive a survival kit that includes flint/steel, a compass, a pocket knife, signaling devices, bandana, first aid supplies, and more.
